Competition climate improving, says PCC chief Date: October 06, 2017
MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) chair Arsenio Balisacan said the country’s improving competition landscape bodes well for the investment climate, prompting more investors to enter the local market.

In a statement, Balisacan said the business community’s perception of competition in the Philippines is now at an all-time high, citing the country’s score in the recently-published Global Competitiveness Report (GCR) by the World Economic Forum.

In terms of intensity of local competition, the Philippines scored 5.3 in the latest GCR, an uptick from 5.2 in 2016 and the highest since the 5.0 garnered in 2007.

As a result, the country’s ranking as far as intensity of local competition is concerned improved to 54th among 137 economies this year, from 60th among 138 surveyed in 2016.
